Meet Chris
Christopher Hoyte
Humanistic Integrative Counsellor
Associate Counsellor
Humanistic, compassionate and genuinely curious about people.
Hello, I’m Chris,
I’m a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor and registered member of the BACP, offering counselling for adults who are navigating life’s challenges, transitions and uncertainties.
I believe that most people already possess the inner resources they need to grow, heal and move forward.
Sometimes life experiences, difficult relationships, stress, trauma, loss or self-doubt can make it difficult to access those strengths alone.
My role is not to tell you what to do or who to be.
My role is to provide a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences, gain new perspectives and develop a deeper understanding of yourself.
My Approach
At the heart of my work is the belief that the quality of the therapeutic relationship matters.
Feeling heard, accepted and understood creates the foundation for meaningful change.
I work in a collaborative and conversational way, helping you explore the challenges you are facing while supporting you to discover your own insights, strengths and solutions.
I draw from a range of approaches including Humanistic Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, Attachment Theory, Existential Philosophy and Mindfulness.
Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach, I adapt my work to meet the unique needs of each individual.
Areas I Commonly Support
• ADHD and Neurodivergence
• Autism
• Anxiety and Stress
• Low Self-Esteem
• Identity and Purpose
• Relationships
• Family Difficulties
• Trauma
• Grief and Loss
• Shame and Self-Criticism
• Life Transitions
• Meaning and Personal Growth
Neurodivergence
Neurodivergence is an area that is both professionally and personally important to me.
I live with ADHD myself and have family members who are Autistic, giving me a personal understanding of both the challenges and strengths that can come with experiencing the world differently.
I understand how exhausting it can feel to live in a world that often expects people to think, communicate and function in very particular ways.
My aim is to provide a space where you can explore your experiences without judgement, develop greater self-understanding and discover ways of working with yourself rather than against yourself.
My Philosophy
I don’t believe therapy is about fixing people.
I believe it is about understanding ourselves more fully.
When we begin to understand our thoughts, emotions, relationships, values and experiences, we create the possibility for change.
As Carl Rogers wrote:
“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”
This belief continues to sit at the heart of my work today.
I look forward to meeting you.
